I see your point, as it now seems like swine flu attacks the respiratory system in a more severe fashion than standard flu. But I still feel that a lot of the media hysteria is unjustified. Do we know that more people have died from swine flu than would have died from a comparable outbreak of 'standard' seasonal flu? It's certainly an unpleasant occurrence, but the fact remains that thousands die from flu every year and much less is made of it.

I think the recording industry in general is slowly turning into something profane, due largely to the influence of the producers and their armies of bean counters, forcing the likes of Britney Spears and Hanna Montana down the throats of young consumers. They have created a profitable business model much like Mcdonalds created the right proportion of grease in its burgers and frys. You no longer have actual musicians in the recording industry. At best you have a clever blend of bubble headed bleach blondes being backed up by quality musicians or in some cases models that took band in college. This is so offensive to anyone that actually appreciates the genius of genuine musical talent and creativity.

I blame MTV.

I think that the Music industry will not be reborn, until it is destroyed and consumers reset their clocks. It won't get better until it is burnt to the ground and reconstituted with a commitment to the art form. You will know we are getting there, when radio stations start going out of business because noone listens to the crap they are spewing. You will know that redemption is at hand when the recording industry shrinks to about a tenth of its current size, because cd's no longer sell and noone cares anymore.

Until then I simply will enjoy my old albums, written and performed by actual musicians who could read, write and create music using actual instruments. Crazy concept right?
